PharmacoKinetics (PK)
Pharmacokinetics (PK) relates to how the concentration of a drug (often measured in plasma) changes with time after dosing. Essentially pharmacokinetics drives exposure, efficacy, dosing regimens and drug-drug interactions.
Early animal PK is used to help assess predicted dose into humans and subsequent suitable human pharmacokinetics.
+Understanding the pharmacokinetics of your compound is essential
+PK does not sit in isolation and is relevant to both preclinical and clinical development
+Understand clearance and volume of distribution to allow clinical prediction
+Supports choice of toxicology species
+Enhances link between exposure and safety
+Understand correlation between pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and toxicokinetics
+ Allows prediction of potential drug-drug interactions
Pharmacokinetic (PK) studies are readily conducted under contract research.
